Welcome

Welcome to Medical Center Pediatrics your Patient Centered Medical Home.

We provide excellence in the personal and compassionate care of newborns through young adults.  Our family of healthcare providers can guide your family to wellness.

All of our physicians are board certified, CPR trained and maintain continuing medical education.  The doctors are on staff at the following locations:  William Beaumont Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Michigan and Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital.

We have 24 hour on call coverage by our own doctors. If your child becomes ill after hours and you cannot wait until the next day, please call our answering service at (248) 691-8614. If it is an emergency please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

We have two convenient locations:

  • Bingham Farms is open seven days per week. Please be aware there is an additional charge for Saturday and Sunday visits.
  • West Bloomfield office is open Monday -Friday.

Financial Policy Update

We have updated our financial policies regarding no-show appointments and fees not paid at the time of service.

The fee for no-show visits has been increased to $50. In addition, we are now charging a $5 statement fee if your bill or copay is not paid on the day of service.

Missed appointments negatively impact our ability to care for your child and others, and delayed payments incur additional costs for our practice. We appreciate and thank you for your understanding.

If you have any questions, please contact our office manager.

New Parent Meet & Greet

MEASLES ALERT

The CDC has issued an alert about a growing number of measles cases in the US. There have been several confirmed cases over the past few months reported in Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and the Washington, D.C. area. Most of these cases were among children and adolescents who had not been vaccinated against measles.

We urge all of our families to make sure that everyone is up to date with their Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccinations. Measles can be dangerous, especially for babies and young children, and is highly contagious. The MMR vaccine is safe and highly effective. Please contact our office to schedule your appointment if your child is not up to date with their vaccines.

ATTENTION: NUTRAMIGEN HYPOALLERGENIC INFANT FORMULA POWDER RECALL

The FDA has recently issued an alert that Reckitt/Mead Johnson Nutrition has voluntarily recalled certain Nutramigen Hypoallergenic Infant Formula Powder products due to possible Cronobacter sakazakii contamination. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall, and most of the affected product has likely already been consumed.

No other U.S. distributed Nutramigen batches or other Reckitt products are impacted.

Please visit this link for the full FDA announcement, including affected product batch codes that are no longer safe. Consumers should stop using the affected product immediately, and may contact Reckitt/Mead Johnson Nutrition for a refund.

OFFICIAL CONDUCT POLICY

Here at Medical Center Pediatrics, we wish to foster an environment of compassion, understanding, and respect.

We recognize that daily life presents unique challenges for everyone. However, we kindly request that everyone treat our physicians and staff with the respect that we all deserve. Aggressive or abusive behavior towards our physicians and staff will not be tolerated, and may be grounds for dismissal from the practice.

We appreciate and thank you for your understanding.

NEW VACCINE STUDY!

Medical Center Pediatrics is an approved site for a national study on a vaccine against MMRV (Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Chickenpox) made by GSK (GlaxoSmithKline). The vaccine is already approved and in use in several other countries and GSK is looking for participants so they can show the FDA that their vaccine is comparable to the one already in use in the U.S.

The study is for 4-6 year old children who are due to get their second dose at their routine checkup. There is no placebo part of the study. Children either get the GSK vaccine or the MMRV vaccine that is currently being given universally in the U.S.

We consider this to be a safe study as the vaccine is already in use around the world. The study does involve two blood tests to determine that the vaccines did indeed work (something not routinely done when we vaccinate kids) and reporting symptoms in the children via a smart phone app (smart phones provided if the family does not have one). In order to recruit patients to such a study the company does offer a generous compensation.

If you would like more information about any aspects of this study, please leave a message for Dr. Levinson or nurse Lori at the Bingham Farms office.

FLU VACCINES AVAILABLE

We are currently scheduling in-office appointments for the flu vaccine (including FluMist) at both of our locations. Please call the office to schedule your appointment!

WHAT'S GOING AROUND?

We are currently seeing a spike in gastrointestinal illnesses, strep throat, bronchiolitis (RSV), influenza, and we are continuing to see cases of COVID-19.  Below are two helpful videos for identifying signs and symptoms of these illnesses, as well as steps for prevention. We encourage all of our patients to get their Flu and Covid vaccines as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please contact your provider.

WHAT TO DO FOR AFTER-HOURS CARE

Although the best place for your children to receive medical care is your pediatrician’s office, we know that your kids don’t always wait for office hours to get sick or injured. Urgent care facilities are advertised as one option to quickly address health issues that don’t require a trip to the emergency room. However, we and our families have encountered some issues that you should be aware of when seeking after-hours care.

Urgent care facilities lack access to your child’s medical history, and often do not have staff who are trained in pediatric care. As a result, they may miss problems, overprescribe antibiotics, or misdose medications.

If you are ever unsure of where to go or what to do when your child is sick or injured, please do not hesitate to call our office to either speak to a phone nurse or the after hours on-call doctor!  We can help you determine the best possible option of care for your child, such as a pediatric emergency room, urgent care, a telemedicine visit, or waiting until the next day to be seen in our office.

If you are directed to the emergency room, we recommend the following facilities:

CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF MICHIGAN TROY,  350 W. BIG BEAVER RD., TROY, MI 48084.   248-524-7180

WILLIAM BEAUMONT HOSPITAL , 3601 W. 13 MILE RD., ROYAl oak, mi 48073.   248-898-5000

C.S. MOTT CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL, 1540 E. HOSPITAL DR., ANN ARBOR, MI 48109.   734-936-4000

You are not bothering us by calling. We are your patient-centered medical home, and we are here to provide the best possible care for your family.

We want to remind you that we offer:

  • Walk-in sick visits Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:45 AM at the Bingham Farms office
  • Telemedicine appointments
  • Quick updates or changes to a physical/sports form if you have been seen within the last 12 months -  you do not need to go to urgent care!

If you need a last minute physical, please call, as we are often able to accommodate either same-day appointments or appointments within a few days.

MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL SICK PATIENTS (2 YEARS AND OLDER) AND THEIR CAREGIVERS.

We will continue to protect our patients and families who are vulnerable.  We appreciate your help in providing a safe environment for our patients, their families and our staff.  For more information, please refer to the current Michigan/CDC guidance linked below:
