IMMUNIZATIONS: Immunizations are a very important part of your child's health. They save lives.  We strongly encourage parents to give all vaccines to their children at the scheduled time recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Center for Disease Control. Parents who decline or delay vaccines are putting their children, as well as other children around them, at risk for contracting deadly diseases. We are no longer seeing children whose parents decide to not vaccinate.  Please do discuss the vaccines with us. We will be happy to listen to your concerns and help you make the best health choice for your family. 


CALLS DURING OFFICE HOURS: We encourage you to call the office with your questions. Our billing department is available from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.  For medical related questions, call us from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday (Bingham Farms and West Bloomfield), and 8:30 am to 12:00 pm Saturday and Sunday (Bingham Farms).  You can talk to a nurse, or you may leave a message for your primary care doctor.  When you leave a message during office hours, we will do our best to get back with you as quickly as possible.


AFTER OFFICE HOURS CALLS: If your child becomes ill after office hours, and you cannot wait until the next day, please call our answering service at (248) 691-8614, and the doctor on call will contact you as soon as possible. While you are waiting for the doctor to return your call, please deactivate any call-blocking features on your phone. For privacy purposes, our doctors block their numbers.


PRESCRIPTIONS: It is our policy that no new medications, including antibiotics, are prescribed without first being examined by one of our physicians or nurse practitioner.  For chronic conditions, we will be more than happy to refill your prescription, provided that we have been following your child for this condition.  Please try to call during regular business hours for prescription refills, as the doctor on call may not know your child or have access to your child's medical records.


COPAYMENT AND DEDUCTIBLES:  Many insurance plans require you to pay a copayment and/or meet a yearly deductible.  Copayments and yearly deductibles constitute a contractual obligation between you and your health plan provider. If the copayment obligation is not met, your health plan provider has the right to deny any and all charges, which could leave you responsible for all services rendered during your visit. Copayments are due at the time of service. We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.


INSURANCE PLANS: Each insurance plan is unique in its coverage, limits, and exclusions. We urge you to check with your health plan provider to find out what services are covered. We accept the following insurance plans:

MEDICAL RECORDS/HEALTH FORMS/LETTERS: Should you wish to acquire a copy of your child's medical records, you must submit your request in writing. You may download the form from our website by clicking here.

We will be happy to fill out any health forms for your child, such as athletic and school physical forms. Please submit your request in writing, and allow 5-7 business days for your form to be completed. We will call to let you know when it is ready to be picked up.  If you do not pick up your health form within 14 days of notification, your form will be shredded.

If you would rather have us mail your health form, please provide a stamped, self-addressed envelope.

When possible, we will do our best to complete the health form during your visit with the doctor.

When picking up any medical records, health forms, doctor's letters, or prescriptions, you must present photo identification.

At Medical Center pediatrics, we strive to create an open and trusting relationship with you and your child.

As your child's pediatric primary care provider, we will get to know your child's health history, listen carefully to your concerns, and treat your child with compassion. As our partnership develops, we will have a better understanding of your child's specific needs. This understanding will help us care for your child.

At Medical Center Pediatrics, we offer a range of services.  Below are some of the services we provide.

Well Child - Preventative Care

We encourage you to make regular check-ups for your child. We typically see patients within a few days of being discharged from the hospital after birth.  We then see your child on an as needed basis until the 2 month check up and again at 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24, 36 months and then yearly after that.

We view these visits as a great opportunity to see how your child is growing and developing.  We will discuss issues that concern you about your child's well being, such as their social/psychologial health, nutrition, exercise habits, discipline, and environmental issues to name a few.

We encourage you to ask questions.

Breastfeeding Services

Our physicians along with Phyllis Meer, NP, Sue Lankowsky, RN, and our lactation consultant Rhonda Yono-Atisha, MD, FAAP, will work with you to address early diagnosis and management of lactation and breastfeeding issues.  We are highly experienced and uniquely qualified to diagnose and treat mothers and their babies for a large variety of challenges such as milk supply issues, engorgement, multiple infants, fussy babies, and latching issues.

Ancillary Services

Medical Center Pediatrics provides the following on-site tests:

Vision Screens - This painless, safe, non-invasive optometry test checks the complete visual system of your child, including the nerve pathway between the eyes and the brain.

In-house labs: Our lab is fully equipped for urine testing, blood testing, and throat and urine cultures.  We have partnered with William Beaumont Hospital, the DMC, and Quest laboratories to provide more comprehensive testing. For off-site testing, specimen collection is performed at our office, picked up by the lab, and the results are faxed back to our office within 24-48 hours.  This minimizes the need to go to a testing center or hospital for lab work in most instances.
